I am looking to upgrade my old Pro-79 handheld scanner - like within the next week.

Does anybody know where I can find out if Sanilac County is going digital, or will they stay alaolg?
They are suppose to be upgrading soon - and I would like to get a newer scanner to accomodate the change.

I am leaning on getting the Pro-106 scanner from Radio Shack, or the Uniden Bearcat BCT15X Scanner

Thanx

The Sanilac County page on here says:

"Sanilac County officials are planning to migrate all of their public safety communications over to the MPSCS TRS within the next 2-3 years."

I'm not sure when that was posted, but it looks like a digital scanner would be a good idea.

You might edit your subject line, probably get a better response from people who might know if it stands out better.

As of yet I do not see Sanilac County on the MPSCS but I would get a digital scanner since they are planning onto. But as mentioned that could of been written a while back. They could have a lack of funding possibly that could be one reason why they have not switched over.

Yes if you get digital you can still hear analog as they both. The scanners you mentioned are very good. I myself and few others on here have a Pro 106.

As mentioned in my other post, according to the data base on MPSCS Sanilac county does not appear on there yet. So as of now they must still use analog at the moment, which a digital scanner can pick up analog and digital as mentioned.

They don't have the money to go digital. They are busy trying to find money to build a new jail since the old one is in horrible condition (Yes it honestly is in as bad a shape as they say it is too).

When they do they will be on 700 and not 800 and thats been confirmed with them. I know the dep that wrote the grant for the equipement which they have but dont have the infastructure or towers or software and such to make the switch.

Is it like the first jail in America, The Walnut stree jail:D

So when if it comes out we will be able to use our 700MHz on our digital scanners?

Thanx tonsoffun! I looked all over to see if I could re-edit it - but the only thing I got was something along the lines of - "If I re-edit the post - it could kill the whole topic", bit.

Figured that wasn't what I wanted , either! lol

Not quite - but dang near! lol

I wouldn't bet on it! This County is so backwards, we - "STILL", have at least 60% of internet users, using dial-up!

Yep and only 1 Cell Company allowed to have towers in that county (Thumb Cellular) thanks to a good ole boy network. Courts keep blocking Verizon and Sprint every time they try.
