It's very impressive. If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans. Not much actually new here. Wonder how much it cost to produce. The new helicopter does not have a water tank yet as far as I can tell. Communications are still suffering from phase distortion. Dispatching is understaffed. They did renumber many of the stations.

Thanks for sharing this. The maps are great.

" includes reserves and preserves and jellys"

What type of land is a "jelly?" Oops, I finally got the joke. I'm really getting slow!

Great find! Lots of good information. If I was buying property in a county I would hope such a plan existed. When I lived in some other western states such things were not available. Even though there wasn't an internet then, our Forest Supervisor's Office and the Ranger District offices all would have hard copies of everything like this and they didn't exist. There were large areas of "no man's land" where confusion reigned as to who responded to fires. Private land could be subdivided without any provision for fire protection or deeded road access to each parcel, this in New Mexico. The lack of a fire district or being included in a county fire district when land was subdivided in California used to be the case in some counties, but in very few now. Whole parcels can be sold and occupied without fire protection, but when it is subdivided this is not the case in the county I live in.

Same of the information falls under the "tell me something I didn't already know heading." Fire insurance companies know this and in this area are busily sending out non-renewal notices. You can't get a mortgage without fire insurance. This leaves you with the Californian. Fair Plan.

The report helpfully doesn't mention that in my area the fire protection from Santa Barbara County is Underwriters Class 9. The lowest it can be. Most engines respond with three firefighters. That means that an interior attack on a structure fire cannot start until another engine arrives. This will be at least 10 minutes in some cases.

It is great to have a plan, but having resources is key. This isn't the fire department's fault. It all comes down to money. They all did away with their reserve on-call firefighter program decades ago.
