Santa Clara County Sheriff p25

the p25 channel for Santa Clara County seems, to have some encrypted units talking on it some times. i was there last week for work and had my astro saber on the vhf p25 channle. the hole time and heard them talking ENC a few times

As far as I know, channels 2 and 3 have never been encrypted. I'm not even sure the radio's have that enabled as an option.

it sounded like it on my astro saber. i hear the FBI use it here in Reno.

A unit may have been in a poor reception area and "going digital" when they TX'd

No it's just a poorly engineered system with LOTS of drop outs. Especially in the fringe areas of the Santa Cruz mountains.

I still think Control 2 would be better off analog. I'm pretty much only able to copy it clearly if i'm within 2 miles of a site
