Trenton Military talking with Rescue 323 (think it was 323) on 11232 USB 18:40 or so UTC Sunday 3 Aug 2014.

Phone patch was established, 323 asked ground party for more information. Ground party noted that they had an overdue aircraft and an ELT transmission somewhere around "lacka falls" or "alacka falls." Ground party was saying that google maps shows what appears to be an abandoned airfield or sandy grass strip that's overgrown in the area of the ELT. 323 responded many lakes in the region, they were going to search for a bit than drop to 1000 feet for a closer look.

Anyone have any clue where lacka falls or alacka falls might be?

thanks much and 73,

Correction

Correction - Rescue 343.

343 just requested another phone patch with "RTC" via Trenton Military.

343 is very garbled. RTC saying someone is talking with Bagotville. Training areas at Bagotville not active, 343 indicated they would transition the Bagotville training areas.

RTC is sending additional aircraft. 343 coordinating rendevous frequency with RTC so incoming aircraft can talk with 323. Apparently the SAR is in/around the Saint-Honore Quebec area as this was mentioned. RTC still sending 343 to take a look at the abandoned airfield. If no joy at abandoned strip, they are going to start a sector search at 500 feet AGL. RTC does not have an exact fix on the ELT, but has enough confidence to begin a sector search.

Also heard on Halifax Military SAR frequency 5717 USB. Just had Rescue 337 working a phone patch there.

Griffon - 439

The CH-146 Griffon is a Canadian military variant of the Bell 412EP, used for many roles including SAR.

Bell CH-146 Griffon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

439 is the 439 Combat Support Squadron: "The squadron disbanded in November 1984 and reformed in November 1985 with the CF-18. They were disbanded at Baden-Soellingen on 15 May 1993 and reactivated shortly after at 3 Wing Bagotville as 439 Combat Support Squadron. The squadron is now equipped with the CH-146 Griffon."
