Has something gone seriously wrong with 158.775 (PL 123.0) - the audio has gone horrible, and sounds like skip of some sort is trashing the frequency.

Appreciate any info on this.

Where are you located? Sometimes I hear the same thing, as if something is going to blow any second

I'm listening to it on my base, mobile and portables 24/7 and very rarely do I get that. Sometimes at night I get something that sounds like someone has a mic keyed...but i get that on other stations too. Maybe you have something near you that is interfereing (Radio/TV station, large Cell phone ant., ect.)?

I know there is a highway department that gets in to the SC911 repeater from time to time. (Actually, right at this moment in fact). A long time back I figured it was probably in the Mohawk Valley or so based on the locations I was hearing from time to time. (Anyone know what PL Oneonta uses on KNAD294? From NF2G.com, Salina at KFD85 uses the wrong PL)

It doesn't sound like Albany (the split is backwards for Albany anyway). It's amazing that Albany and Saratoga were able to get licensed that close together.

Also the State Police dispatch seems to drop off far more often than County.

I should try turning PL off and see if I hear anything from Albany.

158.875 is working fine, as is 158.730.
158.775 was just working (clearly) for a couple minutes.

I monitor from both Galway, and Ballston Spa, with BCD-996T scanners.

I thought the recent 3.0 firmware4 might have had something to do with it...

Could also be interference from Washington County's EMS Repeater output 158.760. There are towers on both Willard and Colfax, depending on when you were listening, Radio Repair was working on the Colfax tower yesterday including the Local Govt station. Saratoga 911 can be audible on Washington County mobile without the RX PL programmed and on Minitors while in Saratoga.

There are several cases of poor coordination of frequencies.
158.760/158.775 Washington County Local Govt (EMS)/Saratoga 911
154.145/154.160/154.175 Essex County Alert/Washington County Alert/Warren County Alert

It is not uncommon (not so much now with both systems being updated) that Warren and Washington Counties would set off pagers from the other county due to the proximity of the alert frequencies.

It will continue to get worse with the narrow frequencies. When Bethlehem put in their new radio system in with narrow frequencies, their police repeater 154.1675 was load and clear at the Washington County Communications Center on the Fire Alert station 154.160, until the stations were replaced and PL'd.

From time to time, I do receive a very static sounds of two-tone signaling. not much voice, just the paging tones and very static. I would assume that its another county paging on fire or EMS like you said Washington County does.
and I've heard a State Police base on 158.775 besides the county dispatch

Must have been radio repair for the last couple days - SP/SC-911 can be confusing on a good day.
It's all clear as a bell now, and not stepping on WC EMS @ 158.790

Of course you've heard the State Police on 158.775...it's a frequency they share with Saratoga County...that's why it's called "State/County 911"

thank you for clarifiying, I would have never guessed
