SARIAN F (Search & Rescue) New frequencies in Canada &am

Sarian F is supposed to be for Search and Rescue Inter Agency National Frequency, range 136-174 VHF, to be assigned in early 2005 according to Marc Parent the National SAR secritariat in Canada. Usual story they have to find repeater pairs and simplex that can be used Coast to Coast and in the US.
This will effect all SAR agencies in North America, providing a common channel(s) that all Emergency services can communicate on, so that of course means lots of new listening opportunities,
So I would ask that everyone keeps their eyes open for news of this and post here as soon as possible, and If its not to much to ask , dont post speculative posts or what you think its should be ! ONLY THE FACTS !

I've heard SAR Chopper's on 157.125 from Trenton before, but that was years ago. I don't think there's been any emergency's or rescue's around this area that needed interoperability. Not that I've heard anyways.

I've deleted this frequency out of the range, cause I've never heard anything on it.

Should I put this back in?

Speaking of Search and Rescue. Besides 121.500 which I do hear Aircraft on sometimes but not enough to no what's up. What's with the freq. of 406.00 Mhz, is there anything to listen to on there?

What's on here that I should listen?

243.0 is milair GUARD.. if your local airport doesn't cross-patch this with 121.5 (as mine does), you may want to listen to this too.

I hate to admit this, but I've never heard of 406.0 being used. Am I missing something?

I've never heard of 406.0 being used.

Apparently 406.000 mHz is an International Distress frequency. I'll join
the chorus and admit to never hearing a peep on it.

But this post is about factual info for SARIAN F so unless
someone working in SAR can help,keep searching in the 136 to 174 range next year.

The 406.XXX frequency is not so much a voice freq, but the new ELT frequency. EPIRB uses it, and soon all aviation ELTs will be operating there too.

The 406MHz frequency is used for emergency locator beacons world-wide using the SARSAT/COSPAS satellites. I doubt if there's anything to listen to, even if one is active nearby.
