Hi you can use any P-25 capable scanner : Radio Shack PRO-96 /Bearcat BCD396T/GRE PSR-500 and others out there to listen to the new system. These digital scanners are legal in Canada and I hope you buy one and we welcome you to join in with this forum for any help you may want with programing your new toy!TrunkLid said:So what kind of scanner will I guy need for this new digital signal?

Hi to diamondc in S.W. Sask ! First things first we must find the frequencys in your location. Go to page #53 of your user manual , turn on the radio , it must be 10 feet or more from your P.C. to work properly! press SRCH until SR6 is in the top left of the display. Now go to page #58 1-2 and page #59 3-6 and enter 138.0000 for your lower limit and 144.0000 for you upper limit ! The control channel will be on all the time, push the arrow key each time it locks up on this channel . Use the pause key to hold when it stops on a voice channel , push pause again to continue your search until you get all the channels for you area. There may be only 2 or as many as 16 or more just make a note of each so you can enter them later. You must read the manual , take your time , understand how to use your new scanner .Do not get in a rush the learning curve is steep and many users become frustrated but it is time well spent. Good luck and thanks for joining in with this forum!diamondc said:just got a pro 96,brand new to scanning & am totally lost on how to set up for scanning rcmp in sw sask. any help will be appreciated
