Beleive it or not I was watching TVSA (the city's television chanel) the other day and thought I saw a posting for a Request for Proposal or a Request for Bid for a radio interoperability system.

But I can't find the RFP on www.sanantonio.gov. I think they only post active RFPs there.

Does anyone know anythiing about this?

With the new system just about a year old, it seems interesting that they might already be doing RFPs for new equipment. I'm not saying they wouldn't need it, it just seems ineteresting.

Yes, I came across it the other day... the RFP... it's for a 4 radio interoperability switch to connect the EDACS system to VHF and UHF systems in the area... I believe to be installed in Batallion Chief suburbans...

Man you're good...and fast!

It will take me a little while to read through all of that. From your post I gather this is not a system-wide thing.

It's interesting though that the city's own website describes the new radio system as having "inter-agency communication capabilities provide full county-wide interoperability" and "Connections to outside systems (LCRA) provide wide-area regional communications."

Here's the link to their page: http://www.sanantonio.gov/sapd/communications.asp

Then scroll down to the new radio system section.

Anyways...

How interoperable is the system in general? Do you think we'll see more of this kind of thing with Homeland grant money?
