From Mike Pizzano at Atlantic Ambulance Corporation:

Good evening,

Today there was a partial transition of CenCom to MONOC, with plans for completion in the early portion of next week. MONOC dispatch staff began manning the stations in CENCOM starting at 1900 hours. There will be CENCOM staff present to assist them throughout the weekend if there are any technical issues that require their assistance. The transition will be complete early next week when the dispatchers relocate to Wall Twp.

Atlantic Ambulance non emergent Dispatch will still be located at CenCom until construction is complete at Dorsa Ave.

I would like to thank Gareth and the staff of CenCom for their hard work over the last 30 years and wish all of them well in their future endeavors. It has been a pleasure to work with all of you.

Additionally, I would like to give special thanks to Dave "Barney" May, Jim D'Ambrosio, Sue Foster, David Nye, and Gareth Williams for their additional assistance during this transition. Their help will lead to the seamless transition we are looking to accomplish next week.

I will update everyone next week when the transition is completed fully.

Have a nice weekend,

Mike

CenCom frequencies still in use as of 6/2/12.

Presently, 155.355(East) and 155.265(West) are still being utilized for dispatch, however the MONAC employees are answering the radio at the CenCom facility at Overlook Hospital in Summit with a CenCom employee monitoring, answering questions and helping to facilitate the new employees on how to use the equipment at that PSAP. MONAC's North frequency 451.475mhz only has one tower and the signal is not that great. Most of the MICU units and BLS units (Medic, 1,2,3,7,11,12 and EMS 8,9,10) all have portables and pagers that are activated by 2-tone on VHF. The cost to switch all the radio equipment to UHF currently is being discussed with the IT department and is still in the works. It is a complicated infrastructure since CenCom towers are located throughout North Jersey and the goal is to make it all come together either by intellirepeaters, phone lines, or microwave sites. That information has yet to be provided. According to the information discussed in the above letter, the MICU (ALS) and call taking will be moved to Ocean County, Wall NJ next week. For those in Morris and Union counties, 465.8375 is a microwave link if you are interested in hearing both sides of the conversation. PL 67.0. One final note, if you live in Morris County, the medics will sign onto the MIRS system either on EMS-Disp 1, 2 or 3 and advise the EMS Dispatcher that they are responding. Just FYI. In order to monitor MIRS, you must have a digital scanner though.

Location
Not Where You Think
Got some updated information on the change over. Completion deadline is now aiming for 7:00am on Tuesday.

Looking like the towns to Union County for ALS/EMD Dispatch will be Fanwood, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Hillside, Roselle, and Roselle Park when all is said and done. The rest will be utilizing MONOC, of which Garwood and Westfield already were as of May 20th.

The Cencom discussion is still on-going here in the original thread:
