I started monitoring the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas a motorola type II 900mhz system. I started monitoring the TRS on saturday. Today I needed to restart the computer, and when I restarted unitrunker (beta 9) on the same system none of my information was there. I closed the program correctly by using E[x]it, and auto save was on. I started re-entering info that I had written down (mostly TG names) when I decided to close the program and see if it was saved. I reopened unitrunker and nothing had been saved. it started all over recording LCN numbers and waiting for me to tell it what frequencies were being used. What am I doing wrong here? I have been monitoring an 860 EDACS 9600 system with no problems for a month.

Hi BJ ...

Try this as an experiment.

Run program while monitoring above system.
Let accumulate a few channels and talkgroups.
Label one of the talkgroups.
Make sure the label appears in the [G]roups view.
Select ave from the main menu.
Examing the program's working folder in Windows Explorer.
See any data files for this system?
Open the GID file in NOTEPAD. Does your label appear?
Some possible causes if nothing was saved:
a. disk drive is full
b. files are marked read-only
c. program does not have write-access to the directory.

If the files look okay ... next step ...

E[x]it from the program. Double check your files. Is that label still present in the GID file?

If files still look okay ... next step ...

Re-start the program. Wait a minute (usually less) for the program to confirm the system id. Does your group label appear under the [G]roups view?

disk size is 4gb, only windows 2k and unitrunker are loaded on this computer right now. there is currently3.15 gb free space

files are not labled as read-only

not sure how to check this

on a side note, as I was playing with this, I heard on one of the slot talkgroups that someone hit a jackpot for $400,000. Damn!
then one of the supervisors came on and said, "whoever gets that jackpot make sure you get their players club card info, drivers license,... pretty much their first born"

Okay. That narrows it down ... all subsequent steps became irrelevant.

Cool.

Is the GID file (a) non-existent, (b) empty (zero bytes) or (c) filled with some data but no label?

To check for write-access to a folder ... try copying a (small) file to the folder or opening notepad and saving a text file into the folder.

Are you by any chance running multiple copies of Unitrunker at the same time?

Also .. to keep the beta process simple ... please move over to the current release (beta 10) at your convenience. I don't want us to waste time chasing down an old problem.
