Ok, so I run the feed for san bernardino system 1. Last night I turn on my 396xt and no traffic, check everything no probs. Go to a channel for apple valley, and it is trying to find control channel.. really weird there are only four cc for this system all are put in, keep in mind a splinter system. So I check my three other scanners same issue no control channel, but if you step through thr frequencies manually you can here little hissing not chop, but that is normal, then i stopped one one of the four rotating cc's and got a beep. So going through the channels again, manually I here traffic.. what the is going on... Does anybody know if they are testing or added another cc, that is not listed.. this has never happened before with this system... The other systems within the county are working fine... pleas e help

I read on socalscan that it's been down for about 24 hours. Unknown ETA when it will be back up.

San Bernardino System 1 Status Update

Greetings, I experienced the same as did all in the High Desert...Was concerned that they (SB Co.) were converting over to a "New" format.
Couldn't sleep over the possibilities, so I furthered my investigation and discovered that the system went into "Fail Soft" after it was being worked on yesterday afternoon. It was explained to me that the controller has hiccuped and after troubleshooting the problem, the technicians decided to re-set the entire thing.
Bad timing as it was already late in the PM. Technical support was "UN-available" from Motorola back east, due to the time of day.
So, as I write this, a "New" unit along with the fixes required to start-up the controller are on their way to the site.
Phew!
Now we can relax as this kind of thing hasn't happened in 20 years.
Best to all.
Happy Listening, I hope,

System 1 has gone into "failsoft" mode. Most or all talkgroups automatically switch to a pre-assigned voice frequency (NOT one of the control channels) and operate as conventional repeaters. You'll need to have all the voice freqs programmed into your scanner. "CC" mode won't work during failsoft operation.
