The unusual drought has led to a much longer window of Fall wildfire potential in the Southern Appalachian area. The mountainous topography contributes to the spread potential, while fuels are very dry, and wind-blown leaves easily propagate the fire. These factors, and especially low humidity,
make control problematic.

171.1375, 168.675, 168.775, 168.750, 168.725, 168.650, 171.550, 168.625, 169.9, 167.425, 167.525, and 122.425 are active.

122.925, 122.975,and 123.025 may also yield some results.

I am sure that B will chime in with some serious omission on my part, however, this is a start for monitors. Please folks--don't take your drone up there!

Good listening!

They are not always accurate and updated, Thanks

And with the USFS, BIA, BLM etc moving channels around tones are changing.

Current posted information is much better and is regularly being incorporated into the RR Wiki where we can track last valid reports.
You can lookup the tones on the Radio Reference database frequency lookup

That talkgroup (Palmetto-800 TG 29264) does appear to be used for the Pickens County, SC fire. I heard it several times this morning, mostly for evacuation coordination. I also heard additional comms on the 2 SC Forestry channels 38 and 39 again today.

171.1375

You can lookup the tones on the Radio Reference database frequency lookup

Could you please direct me to where I could locate 171.1375 in the Radio Reference database frequency lookup for SC? I picked it up in central NC the other day with a PL of 110.9 but can't seem to find a listing for it in either state, tone or not. I must be doing it wrong.

Thanks in advance.

a. Not all things Federal have been submitted to RR
b. Items added to RR are from users who make a submission.

Now for Federal, especially the USFS, NPS etc, they are undergoing changes to comply with NTIA mandates for Repeater Outputs and Repeater inputs
See the RR Wiki at Federal VHF/UHF Channel Plans - The RadioReference Wiki

With that said,.,.

a. maybe it hasn't been submitted. You just found it.
b. maybe it's a transient user, in NC/SC as part of the massive Fire response.

I've only seen 171.1375 with 110.9 in Colorado (Pike NF)

Most listening is needed

168.6750 110.9 was the old Long Creek Repeater, maybe the SC Forests are
a. moving away from a statewide Freq to individual Freqs per Forest
or
b. finally doing a NTIA freq update

Nice Find/Confirmation

The Round Mt. repeater can use/uses the 171.1375 freq also, still the AP District of Sumter NF. Round Mt Tower Road ends up at the site, El. 2172 ft., approximately.

Just heard an aircraft on 168.65, 167.425. and 122.925 various comms, on V AM he told air attack he was at 20,000 ft for IR mapping/imagining. 7 Sierra Foxtrot was the aircraft, mailing images (email) direct to air attack. His size up was "94" acres on the 151 Fire, now enroute to Mt Pleasant fire in Va , one hour en route (Citation?)

Sorry guys, I imagine I spelled imaging wrong on that last post.
Even though our Southern Mts. down here in the triangle only got a bit of rain, the USFS weather indicates humidity levels are up, good news for fine fuels.
