I have had 2 SC200 scanners, one broke and the other the never held a charge, thus pgrade to the 246T and when that bit the dust it's now the 396. Wit h that in the shop for repair, I'm back to my first 10 channel scanner that takes five batteries! have often wondered IF the SC200 ra n on double A batteries, I might have kept it going LONGER. I know this must have been asked a million times but let's make it a million and one! Why did uniden make battery packs in the first place?

Battery packs were easy to swap out when you had a spare. I even had a charging cradle the you plug the battery pack into. At the time all cordless landline phones had them too. Easy to change out as needed.

You can purchase aftermarket replacement packs for those models, or if you know someone handy with a soldering iron, you could have them replace the cells in the pack.
