I know the SC230 is an old model. I was wondering, if anybody ever had any luck with wired cloning on the SC230 or other models from that era?
The manual calls for needing both serial cables (which I don't have) and adding a DB9 null modem adapter and DB9 gender changer.
I did try to make a cable by using two "6inch USB 2.0 Certified 480Mbps Type A Male to Mini 4-Pin Male Cable's" and a "USB A Female to A Female Coupler Adapter / Gender Changer". No Joy, the master scanner won't connect to the slave scanner.
I was hoping someone here has some ideas on this "experiment" I'm trying. I spent 12 dollars for the usb parts to try this, it's going to be closer to 80 dollars to order the serial cables. I attached a picture of my home made cable.
Thanks , Jack

I wired by own null modem cable with DB9 male connectors on both ends for cloning older scanners with DB9 female connectors on the rear. The RS232 cables which came with many handheld and base/mobile scanners have a DB9 female connector on one end and a Hirose connector which plugs into the scanner on the other end. I have successfully cloned both handheld and base/mobile scanners by plugging the cables which came with the scanners into both ends of my null modem cable with no gender changers required.

Much easier to download the scanner and save the file, then simply upload the file to the 2nd scanner. Do it all the time, serves the same purpose. But you just want to use the cloning feature.
