Wow, being new to all this amateur scanning stuff, I keep 'reprogramming' and 'reprogramming' and 'reprogramming'. I'll hopefully get it just the way I want it  someday!
On my PRO-106 all county listings include sheriff/police/fire/EMS which include re-tagged objects for local CHP channels for that specific county from the statewide CHP scanlist.
I know this may seem crazy, but I also keep my channel object numbers in a specific order instead of just chaotic numbering. This works for me since most of my counties have less than 100 channels per county. For instance, I reassign the object numbers so that I know object number 00102 is channel two on scanlist one, because I reassign the channel object numbers so that objects 00100-00199 are on scanlist one, objects 00200-00299 are on scanlist two and so on until the maximum which is on scanlist 018xx. This also lets me know instantly what county I'm listening to without waiting for the alpha tag to display it since county one is all objects on 001xx and county two is all objects on 002xx and so on.
My brother started me doing the LED thing so that I can tell what category the scanner stopped on by having a BLUE LED for Police/Sheriff, RED LED for Fire, GREEN LED for Air, PURPLE LED for EMS, and WHITE Flashing LED for CHP.
I also re-tag channels for different category types from all of the county scanlist into various category specific scanlist. For example, I re-tag all Fire objects in all the scanlist to be on scanlist 12 for instance. So, when I just want to listen to Fire, I select scanlist 12. I do the same thing for Police/Sheriff, EMS, AIR, and all trunk objects so that I can simply listen to the specific category.
Then there is a scanlist I use just for 'testing' which includes things like SRCH and SWPR objects which unleash the power of the PRO106!
