Hello,
I'm pleased to announce that Scan Cape Cod/Scan Massachusetts has upgraded its message forum software to VBulletin 3.08. This forums software is head and shoulders above the previously used forum software used at the site, and was purchased thanks to the generous donations of our users.
One key added feature to the message forums is a much more sophisticated "Incident Notification System". A preformatted form is used for the entry of calls (registered users only). When the form is submitted it posts to the Incident Notification Forum and also generates e-mail to a new mailing list that will notify recipients of the incidents. Generation of e-mail is handled in its entirety by the website. Only the initial thread is sent by e-mail. Recipients are instructed to visit the thread at the message forum for updates. While we encourage registration and participation it is not necessary to be a registered user to join the notification list. Links to it are available from the website and the message forums.
Continued available features of the Scan Cape Cod/Scan Massachusetts site are as follows:
* Live Scanner Feed covering Cape Cod Public Safety (audio with text tags if you are a Winamp user)
* Teamspeak Server offering feeds for various parts of Massachusetts.
* New: Web Controlled Icom IC-PCR1000 Receiver. Users may change frequencies, modes, bandwidth, etc. or choose from a large pre- programmed list. Audio is available via Winamp, Windows Media and Real Player. Please observe etiquette and ask before tuning in case someone else is using the radio.
* North East US Frequency Database. Extracted FCC data in an easily searchable format. (This database is in limbo due to a format change at the FCC website. We are working to overcome this issue and plan to continue to provide it.)
* Confirmed Loggings Interactive Database. CONFIRMED loggings of frequencies in our area and beyond, most with subaudible tone info. Data is entered by our users through an easy to use form, and this database continues to grow as a result.
* APCO-25 frequency list containing confirmed activity from public safety and other agencies using APCO-25 digital communications.
* And plenty more!
