I pushed the function button and the # 1 and nothing to scan came on. Now every time I hit scan I get nothing to scan showing. I can't seem to figure out how to get back where I was before I did the above move or whatever. Sorry if this is a dumb ?

If you have channels or talk-groups in the group #1 on that system, pressing F+1 will shut that sub-group off, leaving you with 'nothing to scan'.

Press HOLD, and manually dial with the knob to any channel or TGID in that system's first group, then hit F+1 again to turn the group back on (you'll see the '-' turn back into the '*' on the very bottom line of the display )

I myself at times have this same problem and appears that the function button possibly was depressed fully for the sub groups..basicly I'm turning off the main group.

Not sure if the BCD396T is the radio in question here...

But just messing around with mine...

I see now by holding "Function" and a number on the keypad, it adds / deletes the corresponding groups in each system (as long as you are in the system you want to add / delete groups from). I did not know how to do this myself until now, thanks!

I wonder if the problem Lazerman is having is due to him holding down the "Function" button, maybe there is "nothing to scan" since he has not pressed "scan" and then a number on the keypad to activate one of the systems?

I just tried clearing all my systems until my radio told me there was "nothing to scan", then held down "function" and a number key, and yes, it will continue to tell you "nothing to scan". So fingers off the "function" key until you get a system scanning! :)

What I have found to work is if you edit one of your groups in the system via the menu options to have a Quick Key set to 0 (zero) it will allow you to use the function knob/key to enter that group as you normally would. otherwise pressing 1-6 or 7/8 will cause you to scan search groups

F+Scroll to the system with all the disabled groups, continue to press F then press a number to turn on a channel group.
