FM Scan
you bet:
SCAN: This mode will simply scan the channels that are set up in the scan list, on the current group that the radio is set to. In the scan options tab, you can choose what channel will be your TX channel - talk-back, whatever channel the radio was on when scan was started, home and maybe a few other choices. Your receive channel will either be whatever the radio stops on first or you can set up a priority channel in several different ways. Your scan list can be user modified (by a long press of the SCAN button programmed) or can be set to "Dealer" where the user can not change it.
FMSCAN- this is the mode I prefer. With FMSCAN, your radio will scan the list set up (user or dealer) but your scanned priority channel and transmit channel will be the channel that the channel selector is set to. You must be careful to not confuse SCAN and FMSCAN however. I set up my fleet radios so that the user can modify the scan list with the programmed SCAN button but program the toggle switch on the top to turn on FMSCAN. I tell my users to make sure they see FMSCAN in the display rather than scan. This way their selected channel follows the channel selector. I recall you may need to specify the transmit channel to be selected in the scan menu.
This can all get rather confusing. When I first started working with the Vertex line back in 2002, this took me a bit to figure out. If you like, I can email a 924 codeplug to you so you can see how I set up my radios.
