Thanks to a volunteer in Calgary you can now listen to Calgary Fire and EMS and M. D. of Foothills Fire and EMS.

The scanner audio is being continuously recorded and is available for listening in the Feed Archive area, recorded audio will be kept for around 30 days.

If you would like to provide a feed for the ScanCalgary.com web site, send me the agencies that will be on your feed and I'll send you the instructions on how to set it up.

To provide a feed you'll need an audio cable to connect the earphone jack of your scanner (or other type of radio) to the Line In input of your computer. The instructions I'll send you will contain a link to a setup package created specifically for you which will install the Oddcast encoder and configure it for your feed.

The Oddcast encoder will record the audio from your sound card and send it to my server for others to listen to. You will not need to open any incoming ports on your router since no one will be connecting to your computer to hear your scanner.

Providing a feed will use very little of your Internet connection's upstream bandwidth (only 24k per second), so little that you won't notice.

As a feed provider you will have access to listener statistics and Google Analytics statistics for the web site as well receive credit for the feed on the home page.

If you're interested in providing a feed e-mail me at gordon@scancalgary.com

Thanks!
Gordon

Your getting mad loop back Id check if you have monitor checked on your line in. If so you might want to turn it off. Its hard to listen to the stream cuz it loops twice every time someone says something.

After reading your post I tuned in and I don't hear it repeating, do you perhaps have two different players playing the feed?

I don't hear any loopback; I'm using the Windows Media player. I do get about a 10sec delay, and only hear Fire C13/14, no EMS.

One of the inputs seems to be too high (line audio/mic audio). I can hear the audio, but the actual scanner audio I find is not loud enough. I have to have it turned wayyyyyyyyy up to hear anything, almost like the background noise from the stream is too loud.

Either which way, hope it gets fixed but other than that. Nice to see Calgary feed being able to be heard on winamp.

What's all on here Police/Fire/EMS ?

OUCH!!!!

Way to loud and the quality is very poor.

Missing a lot of transmissions as I am listening via my Scanner and comparing to your feed.

Brechtd - That was me, I used to run MedicDispatch.com and yes, the City of Calgary strongly encouraged me to shut it down... As I didn't need any legal troubles, I complied...

Cheers!

I'll let the guy providing the feed know that the volume needs to be turned down some.

Looks like the fun and games is over now...

Been offline for quite sometime now...

Wonder if the City of Calgary "strongly suggested" shutting it down?

Well I'm pretty sure its illegal. Or very very shady, I believe something I read along the lines.
"You shall not transmit this signal via any repeater method without permission from the FCC (states) or Canadian Communications Board. Personal information Ie: phone numbers, addresses or names must not be transmitted on these repeaters or any other means."

i'm sure this is to ensure the Canadian privacy act.
