Forget about scancat, get Don Starr's Win97 program here:
http://www.starrsoft.com/software/win97/default.asp
You get 30 days to try it for free. It's much easier to use.

Scancat was brutal on my WIN-XP PRO computer. It froze it and crashed constantly. It seemed to freez and unfreez and continue that cycle of freezing and unfreezing. I couldn't get it to work properly although the interface seemed nice.

WIN-97 is excellent but there is no print function and I have to copy and paste into excell. The export to .csv format is nice but the frequencies end up in sci-eng notation and its doesnt export to a nice clean spread sheet.

I like WIN-97 and use it a lot and that to me was the easiest way to program the pro-97.

.
The .csv format for the frequencies with win97 is a 9 digit number with no decimal places. To get it to look better I change the number format for the column. The format is most likely the format the scanner wants the number in. I know from playing with my own software for my BC796D it wants the freq. in a 8 digit number with no decimal places. With Win97 464.55 becomes 464550000, ie the format is in hz not Mhz.

just do a mathmatical formula in excel by multiplying the cell like c2 for example by .0001 should do it for you

=c2*.0001

Code:
Frequency Tone Description
154.3550 100.0 PL Volunteer Fire Departments - East
154.3550 100.0 PL Volunteer Fire Departments
155.0400 100.0 PL Fireground
465.6125 000.0 PL Fire Mobile Extenders
155.9850 000.0 PL Rescue Squad
154.5150 127.3 PL Rescue Squad
155.0700 127.3 PL Sheriff Dispatch
154.7550 127.3 PL Sheriff Tactical / Autauga Metro Jail
156.1950 107.2 PL Road Crews
The above was copied directly from a RR conventional database page into excel using right click>Paste Special>Text. The useless columns were deleted and the two 000.0 PL were entered in the excel column to maintain structure to copy/paste into this window. However, copy/paste directly from a Win96/97 file is more convenient IMO.

Another method is to use Butel WebReader (if you can find it anymore). I often used this utility to build files for importing into ScanControl for my 2052. Again, after Win96 Web Import became available, I now use it to copy/paste into excel and save in csv format for import via ScanControl.

Butel has an excellent Web Import for the 246/396/996 scanners but apparently has no intentions to add this feature to the 250-796 group of scanners. :( This forces me to also use Don's software to collect data for the 785D scanner.

Also IMHO, the RR Comma Delimited csv download is hectic to edit for anything I might use it for.

Assuming you just want to print, why copy into Excel, just copy into Notepad and print it.

I will repeat what others have said, forget the ScanCat program and use Win97.
