Anyone here use Scancontrol software?Any comments on it?

Its great for the Pro-2052 and works very well with the BC785D also. Imports csv and opens or saves as dat files. You can edit inside the file and send a single freq or ID to the scanner. You can exchange a single bank or all 20 banks.

The Remote program is outstanding, and allows for various logging menus and displays the text tags as though they are in fact in the 2052.

The owner provides great support and has a yahoo group which he constantly works with users and acknowledges their recommendations for improvements of the program.

I vote 10 for the 2052 and 9 for the 785D, because I like ARC better.

I purchased it for my Pro-20952 but I'm having trouble learning to use it.I keep seeming to delete everything out of my radio then have to reprogram it.Is there a way to delete the dat files?I cant seem to figure out how to do that.I know with time I will figure it all out but right now its all greek.Thanks for any help and your quick reply. Shane

Just go into Windows explorer and delete them (obviously not when you're in the program!). Not a huge leap there...

And if you do that and find you want to recover files, that's not hard either; take a look in the Scan Control directory, and you'll find that there are .bak files that you can use for recovery. It's one of the niceites that not every program has.

It's wierd that you keep killing the programming, though. It suggests a connection issue. If memory serves, there is a standard DB9 on the back of the scanner, and I think a straight RS232 cable will do the job - no null modems, ect.

Let Scan Control attempt to connect to the scanner automatically. If it doesn't, then you know you have a connection issue. Don't force it to connect if it says it can't.

Check your system tray and make sure nothing is taking over the Com port. It almost sounds like you have something that is jumping in while you are attempting to up/download. In fact, you might try something simple; hand program a dozen or so frequencies, then try to connect and download them, just to insure that your connection is a good one.

There are brand new Help files which just became available. They're set up for version 4.1.x. Right now I think they're standalones, but I bet they will be integrated into the program shortly.

That's all I can think of at the moment.
