Scancontrol with BC895XLT

I have installed ScanControl on my computer for my BC895XLT and for some reason it seems to run very slow. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Yes, a few. You might want to read my reviews on Strong Signals; you can find them as links off the software page. To start, check that com port slider on the main screen ; you will need to fool around a bit with it until you find a setting that is fast enough to run the scanner correctly *without* seeing errors, either during control or when you exit. It's almost impossible to state how fast your machine will go, due to com port differences and processor speeds; but somewhere in between 10 and 14 will get you started. It is a matter of experimentation to find the right results.

If you have other specific questions, fire away; and there's a Scan Control Yahoo group where Ken D. (the author) answers lots of tech questions. If I can't help - I've been working with SC since version 3.x - he certainly can. Again, that link exists on the Strong Signals software page.

Well actually that slider helped. I have it set to 10 and it works rather well. If I have any other questions, I'll be back

I got everything working how I want but I have a small problem. ScanControl uses 100% of my CPU and I don't know how to make it not use all of the processor speed. Any ideas/helpful tips?

That would be one for Ken over on the Yahoo group. I don't notice much degradation on my 500 Mhz PC, but that could just be me. The Yahoo group URL can be found on the Strong Signals software page.
