This is my first post.After reading just about everything on the site, i am having a problem programming different scanlists.I am using ARC 500 from Butel. I am trying to put five different counties in five different banks or scanlists. Every time i programm scanlist 1 and then go to programm scanlist 2 it over writes scanlist1 . I can manually programm all 5 banks with no problems. I am new to the RS-197,but have programmed many Unidens.To many of you this may be a no brainer but i am totally at a loss at what step i am missing ! Can someone please point me in the right direction ? I have supposedly followed all the instructions. I have read a lot about nothing being enabled. All the scanlist are turned on. When i try to programm scanlist2, it over writes scanlist1. I can receive traffic on scanlist1 all day, just can't get to hear anything on any other scanlist.What am I missing ?

On the arc 500 when you program the Scanlist make sure you go into the tab that shows scanlist and Uncheck the number 1 scanlist and check the 2 scanlist this should keep you from loading all on the same scan list
just have to remember to check and un check the list as you go
i do the same thing here for the stars towers in my area each tower has it on scanlist

reboot is normal reprograms the eprom
go in and make sure the scanlist your not using or checked off and that the one being used is check on where you can change the display screen when it turns on
make sure after you download and get the file ready you save a cope if it to the harddrive
the scannner should scan the scan list when it load if nothing scans push the scan button

You can not 'add' scanlists, you must create one file with all 5 scanlists and upload that to the scanner. It is a limitation of the scanner.
If there is data in the scanner read it in ARC500, add the next scanlist in the software and then send it back to the scanner.

If I'm understanding you correctly, what's happening, is your loading into your default list, thus overwriting it with the new program. Make sure you uncheck the scan lists you already loaded. As far as It shutting off, Yea, it's normal for it to re boot. It's supposed to do that. That's why you need to have ALL your information that you need in there. All your scan lists entered and on. Then upload to the scanner, you can't do one list, upload to scanner and do another list. You need to do all at once. Keep in mind as well there's a limit to how many you can put in one list, but I'm sure you know this since you read the help sheet on it. Make sure you save your work after you load your info from the internet.Once you get all your trunking channels in, then conventional, save it. This way you won't have to keep downloading off the net.

Scanlist 1 is the default scanlist so anything programmed into otherscanlist it will bleed over to scanlist 1. You can switch that by pressing the Program key, then press the F3/Global key, then press the down arrow key to
Dflt Scanlist: 1 and switch it by pressing the 0 key, then hit the F1/Save key that should help.

Thanks Oslo, that was the info I was searching for. So far , so good, up and running. All 5 scanlist are enabled. If in the near future, say I want to add the new 700 freqs, do i have to add it to the file i saved and add it to new scanlists ?
