If I am at a shortwave radio that displays in MHz and it is showing a display of
2.696 MHz
I know this is 2,000,696,000 Hz
But if I go to a shortwave radio that displays in kHz and I want to listen to the same FREQ what do I put in?
Thanks for getting back to me but I think I sould explaine were I get mixed up.
If I am on a radio and it is displaying in MHz and it says 2696 MHz I sould read it as 2 million 6 hundred and 96 thousand Hz
Now if I am on a radio that displays in kHz and it displays 2696 kHz would I read it as 2 million 6 hundred and 96 thousand Hz
Thanks
how do u pick up phone calls on a scaanner either cordless phones or cell phones,,

Because M means to ad six zeros?
This is what I sould have asked?
If I am on a radio that tunes in with kHz and see 2696 kHz I would say
2 million 6 houndred and 96 thousand Hz
But if I am on a radio that tunes in with Mhz and I see 2.696 MHz would still say
2 million 6 houndred 96 thousand Hz?
OK so if I would still say both FREQ. the same what is the deal with the point in the MHz freq. readout?
k tells us to ad three zeros at the end.
And M tells us to ad six zeros at the end RIGHT?
M does not mean to add six zeros, it means to move the decimal 6 places so 2.696 MHz = 2,696,000 Hz. Or in other words...
2.696 MHz = 2,696 KHz (decimal moved three places to the right) = 2,696,000 Hz (decimal moved six places to the right). These would all be the same frequency just using a different notation to identify them.
Actually 2,000,696,000 hz=2.000696 GHz (gigahertz). If I am at a shortwave radio that displays in MHz and it is showing a display of
2.696 MHz
I know this is 2,000,696,000 Hz
