scanner advice

From what I can see, Putnam and Baldwin Counties are using frequencies in the 700mhz range, and the scanner I have will no longer pick up their frequencies. What scanner is most recommended for picking up a wide variety of frequencies as well as trunk tracking so that I do not have to replace a scanner again within the next few years? Suggestions???

Putnam County - they are still on VHF and any scanner should suffice.

Baldwin County
PLEASE NOTE: Some usage of DMR digital mode, which is not currently available in off-the-shelf scanners.

For the 700Mhz frequencies in Baldwin County, however, you will need a digital P25 capable scanner. Would suggest you look at ones that also have P25 Phase II capability - you may need it in the future, so invest now.

Uniden BCD325P2, BCD436HP, BCD536HP, HP-2, BCD996P2.

Whistler WS1080, WS1088, WS1095, WS1098

Thank you for your reply. I know that Putnam changed their frequency out of the 100MKH range and I assume they went up to the 700's like everyone else around. If you have any additional information on what the frequencies are please share due to the fact that I cannot find any hint of what it is now nor that of Baldwin County Law Enforcement. If i get the Radio Shack PRO 668 will I be able to pick up both counties?

Unless they are now encrypted, or using NXDN digital or DMR digital modes, the PRO668 would be a good bet.

No idea on what frequency(s) are being used for your counties of interest.

You might take a chance and ask at your local Radio Shack or other electronics store - they may actually know the answer...

If they have changed, what system is Baldwin on? How did you come by this info? They are listed as using DMR in the VHF-Hi band.
