what are some thoughts on digital model scanners for a three site simulcast phase i 800 mhz system?
Especially interested if any systems might be laid out like a triangle.

Order from some research
1. 436/ 536
2.hp-1 or hp-2
3.396/996?

Or a dif order?

thanks

Most reports I've heard say the x36 handles simulcast better, but it depends on the specific system as to which works best.

Simulcast

Depending on conditions, the signal will vary even in the same location. Weather, leaves on trees, and buildings all can affect the reception. Even a change near a farther away tower can change what you receive and how well your radio decodes it. A directional antenna aimed at the nearest tower is often the best choice, and a vertical or handheld antenna will give the most variation as conditions change.

I've had simulcast distortion issues with the 396XT/996XT scanners. So I recommend against them.

My 536's are much better.

I do not have any HP models, so I can't comment, other than it has been said that the HP2 is using a different technology (AMBE +2, whatever that is, but is the same as the x36's).

My experience is such that some places reception is crystal clear and other places have garbled or absent audio. It's all about location - close to a site is real good and in between sites it isn't.
