Scanner for Abilene, Texas

Can anyone advise me about which scanner would be the one for monitoring police and fire in Abilene, Texas?

Abilene has a EDACS digital ProVoice trunked system

There is no scanner currently made that will pick up ProVoice digital audio.
The system is also capable of analog audio but I don't know if it is used.
Any current Uniden, GRE or Radio Shack trunktracking scanner should be able to receive analog EDACS trunking but there may not be any analog signals on Abilene's system.

I am too far away to hear Abilene and not familiar with what is going on there.
Hopefully somebody else can give you a better answer.

was through there last weekend and I remember Fire being on analog (non pro voice) so all you will need is a EDACS capable scanner from the list on the link: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Category:Analog_Trunktrackers

Police are Pro Voice and as Tom mentioned no stock scanner currently will allow you to monitor Pro Voice on a EDACS system. Also lot of traffic from the school on there too that can be monitored


Taylor County S/O is on VHF analog so no problem picking them up also
