I know it's a different scanner but it has the same programming process!
Another popular MSP talkgroup #35472 MSP STATE (Helicopters).
A useful trick when programming conventional frequencies and talkgroups is using the DUPE button. Just change the old values to the new values and your good to go!
Enjoy....
Nascar18 - this is great info - the "DUPE" button is a nice trick. We have Troop H programed in. For the helicopters, do we use the same frequencies that you mentioned in an earlier post - "For frequencies put; 859.2875 and 859.8375"? I can find the ID you gave (35472) in the Mass State Police list but can't tell if its on the same frequency. Thanks again

You're also going to want to program Troop D in since it covers Plymouth, Bristol, and Barnstable Counties.

Yes, it's a trunked system for MSP zone 3! Trunked systems use talkgroups = TG's not frequencies to listen to. All the TG's I gave you will work in the MSP zone 3 control frequencies.
Did you figure out the scan lists yet? When you put the scanner in manual use the keypad and go to the right or left. Sorry at first I called them banks. The videos were to help you understand how to program the MSP trunk system. A good use of the scan lists is list #1 put local PD, #2 local FD and list #3 MSP trunk system.

Thank you again - all working great. We have troop h and the state police helicopters in our Scan list #3 as you suggested. Steep learning curve, but with all the help, we finally got there. I appreciate all the input, tips and knowledge.

I believe Cohasset is covered by Troop D. MSP doesn't go by counties, they go by troop areas. Cohasset is in Norfolk County but it is surrounded by Plymouth County. Troop D covers Plymouth County.

Why Cohasset is an island in the middle of Plymouth County, I don't know. I also don't know why Brookline is bordered by Suffolk County on one side and Middlesex on the other.

Yes, all MSPs are in. Our commute takes us on the expressway so Troop H is good to have - good point about Troop D, we'll take a look a that - thanks. Is it possible to scan the coast guard?

Depending on your location and which has the best signal you will likely want to use the Zone 3 towers when Home
and Zone 5 when in Boston - you can keep the same Talk Groups as they do over-lap and are generally carried on the neighboring Zones.

As to USCG (YMMV) as they do a mix of CLR and ENC
and put them ALL in, altho some are mainly assigned to an area, when a visiting Cutter/Helo etc are in the area, you never know what will be used

You might like Massachusetts Environmental Police (MEP) .
MEP-1 East - 39152
MEP-2 39184
MEP-3 39216
Just add them in the MSP talkgroups.
They report on the right whales off of Cape Cod.

Another nice tool on the GRE/Whislter scanners is go into manual on scan list #3 MSP trunk system. Press TSYS button then press ANALYZ. That will give you the decode rate on the control channel for Zone 3. The higher the decode % the better reception. Use the keypad to scroll through the control channel list, up and down.
