Hey!

I have a BC125AT scanner, and I really like it. But there are certain ranges of frequencies that it can't pick up and i'm not sure why that's the case. Some VHF ranges and UHF ranges, would I need to get a different scanner model in order to pick up these ranges? Or is it an antenna thing?

Sorry for such a basic question

Appreciate any help that you can provide!

If you're looking for a scanner recommendation please reply back with whom (in Idaho?) you intend on monitoring so we can get eyes on the database to see if the BC125AT is the right choice or otherwise make an informed recommendation for you. If P25 and/or trunking of any type is involved the BC125AT won't handle it since it is an analog-only non-trunking scanner. Plus most trunked radio systems in use by public safety reside within the 700-800mhz band which the BC125AT does not cover. From what I hear the BC125AT is a superb aviation band receiver. Welcome to the RR forums

Hey sorry for the lack of info, i was really tired when I wrote this. I mainly focus on scanning for mil aviation stuff, so I’m primarily focused on the 200s-high 300s. But the BC125AT can’t scan between 380-400, which I’d like to hear.

The 380 - 400 range has been reallocated to military base radio systems, No aircraft used in this area now(?).
If you want to listen in this area, you will need a P25 Phase 2 scanner.

Actually you can monitor that range (380-400) on the new 160DN scanner which is not a P25 capable scanner.
