Scanner Help??????

I've read several of your post and you guys seem to have the answers..I have one for you....I was using a pro-66 to listen to things about half a block from my house..They switched to a new "thing" that is a digital 2.6ghz model....Is there a scanner I can get to pick this up. And how good will it work...Thanks ....

If you want to stay with the RS Pro series, currently the Pro-96 is the only unit that supports Digital Systems.

The only digital that any of the digital scanners will pickup is APCO P25. If what you are referring to is what I think it is, the short answer is no, no scanner can, or ever will, in all likelyhood, be able to give you an understandable audio signal. The long answer tends to get people riled up, so we won't go there! :lol:

Aside from that, they don't cover 2.6 GHz. In fact, they only go up to about half that frequency. No matter how you look at it, your 'fun' is over.

Thanks, Joe, I wasn't positive about that. I wasn't for sure if one of the high-end comm. receivers that some call scanners might go that high, maybe with the aid of an accessory downconverter. It's hard to keep track of all the advances in receiver designs these days.

There are scanners that will tune up to 3.3 GHz (Icom IC-R20) but they don't do digital. Present model digital scanners don't tune that high, and even if they did, the P25 digital format that they decode isn't used on.....what you want to use it for. Either way, you're S.O.L.
