• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Maybe too busy sipping Latte's at Starbucks or watching the new Al Gore movie? They won't install a scanner in their Lotus Elise? :)

Seriously, there must be scanner enthusiasts in Marin. They have an awesome MERA network to listen to.

I wonder if George Lucas has a scanner... :)

The Yahoo! group BayScan covers that area and is very busy...but there's also a lot of back and forth whining, so it may not be your thing. Worth looking at though, as there are a bunch of good people with solid info over there.

Crista:

I monitor Marin County from across the bay, from western Contra Costa. I Googled "Californiaonline scanning" but didn't get any hits. Do you have a URL for that website (and any other groups that maybe helpful)?
