Scanner Law In Indiana To Carry Scanner?

Is there any situation where you can keep a scanner in your car? Like for emergencies like getting stuck in the snow or stranded... Maby keeping the unit seperate from the batteries? I am in indiana... we Have been cought in a flood several months ago with water on all sides...don't want anything like that again...And where can i find the laws on scanners for indiana Roy

If you read the details on Indiana, It appears you can have a scanner in your vehicle if you have an amateur radio license, as is the case in most states that restrict scanner use. If you are transporting it in your car, your best bet would be to put it in the trunk with the batteries and antenna removed. If you really feel the need to have it in your vehicle, get an amateur radio license and then you wont have to worry about it.

By the way, a scanner will not do you much good in an emergency because you cant talk to anyone on it. In that situation, a cell phone would be the ideal thing to have. Even if the phone doesn't have service connected, you can still call 911.
