Scanner LCD

Hi all I am still kind of new to the wonderful world of scanning. I am trying to edit one of my channels but every time I do I get no sound, I do get sound on every other channel. I had my scanner programed by someone else when I brought because I use a Apple computer and its not compatible with programing my scanner, also when I change the channel in the lower part of the screen there are 3 letters DAT but I do not have that in any other channels that are stored. I needed to edit the channel because it went over to digital. If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Sorry for the long post. Thanks

You didn't state your model, but it seems like the channel you refer to is a Data channel and your scanner may be set to to mute it.

Chuck I have a BC996t if its in mute mode how do I get it out of it. Thanks

I don't know anything about the 996 so you'd have to go to your manual. But if you unmute a data channel all you're gonna hear is some very unpleasant static. In fact, the scanner may mute data channels by default because there's really nothing to hear but static.

Is the frequency you're trying to reprogram part of a trunked system or a stand-alone digital frequency? Based on the limited info provided, you may just need to change the "channel" settings from analog to digital.

The dat just means it is pickup the signal and reading it. If you have the scanner in the scanning mode, when someone talks on it it will open up. If you hold on the channel that is getting that signal for the data, then when someone talks on it it will display it but no audio.
