I'm not to sure youre scanner will only pull the amps it needs it's the volts tha kill you.
Hey guys it works perfect, no noise at all. So yeah, it was the built in power...so happy it was not the scanner.
Thank you very much for your help, you are great.
Hopefully this thread will help somebody else if they encounter the same problem.

You are right, that's the next step for me. I will see what I can do about it.Cool! Now the next step for the electronics tinkerer would be to open the radio and find the part that's making noise. Since there is 110VAC inside this should be done with proper precautions to not get shocked. Transformers are classic parts for vibration noise but it could be something else.
Anyway, now you know.

Does anyone know what size radioshack "adaptaplug" the 2006 takes??
Since the noise is likely a mechanical vibration, a classic fix is to "goop" the part in some non-conductive material that looks like RTV (but isn't).
PS:actually I find the noise annoying now(off or on, it does not matter), and I am wondering why i did not notice it before. I was playing with antennas yesterday, but I also played with some antennas on my PRO-164 and it is working fine.
