I am so glad I just bought my new bcd396xt from eBay for 199. Because I have a feeling the price may start rising on them since scanner master isn't carrying them anymore. And RS is out of business. I don't understand the move by scanner master but I guess they've gotta sell and market there 325 now...

Shame if true.

Sad for us and a questionable marketing descision for Uniden if the x96 truly is the last of the successful XT line.

It is. I don't think uniden has stopped making them yet as you can still purchase from there site for 399 but scanner master has discontinued them and they are a major distributor.

Historically we've seen "discontinued" listings on websites when stock of a particular item has run out. Doesn't mean it's truly discontinued nor that it won't ever be back.

The 996XT also doesn't appear on Scanner Master's site, but that kind of makes sense since the 996P2 is out now.

The 396 doesn't even appear in the menus on their site. Are you following some kind of stored bookmark, to find out that it's been 'discontinued'?

I've been checking for about a month I was going to by one from SM but it said out of stock for a month so I bought mine ebay. Then I checked today and it's gone. I can see the 996xt being phased out due to it being the same as the p2 just with p2 lol. But the 325 and the 396 are two different beasts! I prefer the 396 as the beast. I use color alerts and enjoy 12hr battery life. Lol

The scanner is a 396XT in a 346XTC case. I photo shopped the 396P2R and rec labels only. Here is another shot of what could be !

While the 325 has a couple features missing over the 396XT (alert light primarily), there is no reason to carry essentially duplicate models.

Here are a few reasons they should.

1. 3AA batteries vs 2AA
2. Back lit Keypad vs none
3. Multi Color LCD with alerts vs none
4.Aesthetically the BCD352P2 looks like a cheap weather radio.

Even if you don't include recording capabilities there is reason enough.

I'm just happy I got mine for the price I did at the right time and I hope uniden keeps making them.
