During the daytime hours, all the frequencies that come in on my scanner are static. You can hear the frequencies, but all of them have the same buzzing sound. I have an outside antenna, but I have a scanner with an inside antenna with the same type of noise. Most of the time at night, the noise does not exist. Any suggestions?

Your interference could be coming from any number of places - power lines, light dimmers, TVs, computer monitors, poor connections at your electrical service entrance - the list is endless. However, since the noise is affecting the scanner with the outside antenna as well as the inside antenna, I would think that the source is located outside of your house. But, not knowing your situation, this may not be the case. Can you tell us more about the noise itself? Is it constant, cyclic, high-pitched, low-pitched, worse on some days or in different parts of the house...etc?? Does the noise go away if you disconnect the antenna or use the attenuator (if your scanner has one)?

I would start looking for the source by killing the Main Breaker on the
house. If the noise goes away, then the source of the noise would
be inside somewhere. If it is inside, try switching off individual breakers
until the noise goes away and then find out what is all on that circuit.

Just a thought.
