I have two base scanners, when one stops on a transmission, and the other one is scanning, a clicking noise is heard on the one playing the transmission. I have tried moving the scanners away from each other, but no change. I have also tried different antennas. Any suggestions?

The clicking sounds like a cell phone ping. Is cell phone laying on scanner. If you connect one scanner to an outside antenna you want have the problem. You can connect both scanners thru a TV/VCR type splitter to one antenna either inside or outside and you want have the problem. Good luck.

Is it by any chance a PRO-2036 or one similar?

Mine causes a clicking sound on my other scanners when it scans through memory channels.
I had just figured the unit had issues... hell, I found it for $20 at the thrift store... I can't complain too much :)

Many if not most scanners will put that type of noise on a some frequency. I get it from different scanners on my 2mtr ham radio. Just going by a house or a location with a scanner will sometimes come in on the ham radio in my vehicle. I also will pick it up on a scanner when one is locked on a freq and another is still scanning. It doesn't cause any problems that I know of only an annoyance.

Hi Scan and all,

These guys are guessing, Hoofy comes close but I have the experience. (;->) The clicking you hear is a pulse train coming from the other's scan control for the most part. Some loud pops can come from it's local oscillator, part of scan control but in any case that's the source. The interference can be radiated, conducted or both, conducted along the coax sheld if they're coupled to a common antenna or through the power line, radiation speaks for itself.

Your specific solution if it really bothers you depends on your radio environment, I have given you sufficient clues. Take note that plugging it in a different outlet may not solve the power line conduction problem as often all in the room are connected together and sometimes those in another room are also on the same branch.

A scanner is a Part 15 device so some spurious emissions are to be expected within limits specified by the FCC.
