BCD396XT/BCD996XT: Scanner not picking up anything digital

What, if anything, could cause a BCD996XT to stop receiving any Phase 1 digital systems? I'm trying to monitor a couple different, fairly busy, local Phase 1 systems (Hoosier Safe-T and Illinois' Starcom21) imported directly from the RR database (via Freescan), and the radio is silent. In comparison, my new SDS100 is happily squawking away monitoring those same systems, also imported from the RR database (via Sentinel).

Analog trunked systems and non-trunking conventional frequencies are received just fine on the 996XT.

It's been a while since I've used / programmed my 996XT, but you'd think by using Freescan (or any other program), everything would be be 'programmed' correctly and would receive these systems with no problem, thus making me wonder if something could be wrong with the internal workings of the scanner itself.

Any tips, hints, suggestions and/or comments will be greatly appreciated.

Check to see if the trunk type changed.

Perhaps simulcast distortion is the issue here? The two TRSes mentioned contain some simulcast sites. Especially since the SDS100 receives them fine

I've had no issues in the past listening to these systems on this scanner. Granted, it's been about eight months or so since I regularly used it, but I was hearing both systems then. When I decided to start using it again the other day, I did a reset of it to easily clear out a lot of stuff I didn't want to monitor anymore, and started a fresh program file to upload.

Okay, I'm an idiot. Figured it out. Squelch was turned up to 12. When I dialed it back to 2, it sprang to life on both systems.

Although, I have to admit, I'm surprised that conventional freqs and analog trunk systems came through with the squelch that high.

All is right in my scanner world again. I do appreciate the comments, although, in the end, it was a simple case of operator error. D'oh!! LOL!!

i have a bcd396T that for whatever reason turns it up to 15 and things are then quiet.
i am the only one that touches that radio, but it does seem to have a mind of its own.
the volume changes too.

I was about to suggest that. I experienced the same situation once upon a time and went so far as replacing antenna cable ends before i saw the problem.

I my area if I turn on my Whistler scanner that was last used early this year it wont hear anything in our P25 system. Neither did my SDS200 after Oct and our P25 was all re-talk grouped and I had to reload it and set favorites this weekend to get it to work.
