The 652 is a trunking digital scanner. It can handle phase 1 P25 but not phase 2.

It was Radio Shack's last digital desktop/mobile.

If you don't have phase 2 systems in your neck of the woods, it should get whatever you have in your area. It has a pretty hot receive front end, with good sensitivity and ok selectivity.

It's a good price if it is fully operational, especially if it includes the cable, which runs around $25 by itself. You can program it without the cable, just more tedious.

Like Mark said, BEFORE buying you need to verify the scanner is in proper working order. Ideally you should test it by (for example) manually entering a conventional frequency from a nearby repeater and verifying the main board isn't fried from desense, the speaker, audio jack and LED display work etc.

sorry dude I didn't mean to offend you. I know its no excuse but I probably was drinking when I wrote that. I was trying to be funny and not offend anyone. my typing sounds messed up sometimes and gets me into plenty of trouble. I really don't mean how that came out. If I could remove what I said I would
