Scanner permit fast and??

I Put a MI scanner permit App. in the mail on FRI. and it was approved and sent back on the folling WED. That was fast.

What does the part at the end mean that says except the frequencies licensed for police radar. Radar detectors are legal in MI already. Does it mean you can not have a radar detector and a scanner in the car at the same time or only that the scanner can not receive radar which it cant anyway? OR somethng else??

Yeah I've had a permit for about 5 years now and I've noticed that too. I'm not sure myself what that exactly means either...it would be interesting to know for myself as well! Where did you find the application? I've looked all over and couldnt find it where I originally got it from!

From what' been said in the past, they didn't want the permit to allow radar detectors, should a ban ever be put in place...

Don't worry about the radar detector. You're dealing with people who think the police are still using short-wave radio (they used to)! Look at the app...they don't call it a police scanner, they call it short-wave. Too funny!

I have the permit app, am I correct in thinking that one MUST have a ham license, or not? I see the box marked NONE?

No you do NOT need a ham license. In fact at one time you could not get the scanner permit if you had a ham license but I see from other posts that may not be true anymore.
If you have a ham license (tech or above) you do not need the scanner permit at all.

Ok, so what I should have said is that I have no ham op's license, but I have a 2096 that i may want to have in my truck at one time or another, sooooo, do I need a tech or above or just the short wave permit?

Yes, you need the permit if you want to use your scanner (legally) in your car, in the State of Michigan.

That is exactly what the permit is intended for...civilians with no FCC license, no affilation to a department, and no "serious" criminal record.
