Hi all, not only a Uniden question but I'll use Uniden nomenclature..

With the state trs.
1)Do you program each "department" with its own site individually?
Or
2)Do you program one big system with a few nearby sites and then all the departments in that one "quick key" or group.

I would imagine it would scan faster with setup number 2..

Would love to hear how you all organize your rigs.

Thanks

If it is a Uniden, then it all goes into one system. I use quick keys to turn departments and sites on/off by geographic locations at the county level, and I can then fine-tune it as needed with holds and avoids.

If it is not a Uniden, then the systems might get split depending on if the radio support multiple site scanning. Some radios will only scan the first control channel that it can hear and leads to missing a lot of traffic due to messiness of affiliations on a large system. I will split up the sites and talkgroups at the county level like how I would setup quick keys. For monitoring specific agencies/talkgroups that I am interested in, I setup specific systems with sites that they usually affiliate to. I typically end up the talkgroups copied over to multiple systems which allows me to do general wide area scanning with the option to focus into specific things that I am interested in when needed.

I have a Uniden 100 that I have programmed using favorite lists for each "department/service" with its own Radio Frequency Subsystems (RFSS) sites programmed for my home location. I listen to agencies/departments dispatched on the county simulcast system and CO state DTRS from 2 different Radio Frequency Subsystems (RFSSs). I can turn on and off what favorites list I want to listen to when I am at home or traveling.
