A beta version of the Android Scanner Radio is now available that contains support for listening to private and public Calls playlists.

If you'd like to give it a try, go to Scanner Radio - Police Scanner - Apps on Google Play to install the Scanner Radio app if you don't already have it. Next, go to Sign in - Google Accounts and follow the instructions on that page to opt into receiving beta versions of the app. After you do that, the Play Store app should make available to you (as an app update) the version of the app that contains Calls playlist support.

Public Calls playlists are listed in the directory alongside traditional audio feeds. In order to listen to your own private playlists, enter your Broadcastify credentials into the app (select Settings, then "General Settings", and fill in the Username and Password settings to do that), then, with Browse selected at the bottom of the screen, tap on "All" at the top of the screen and then tap on "Broadcastify Calls Playlists" and then select a playlist. The "Broadcastify Calls Playlists" entry won't be shown if your Broadcastify credentials haven't been entered.

You can send me feedback on the Calls playlist functionality by sending an e-mail to support@gordonedwards.net

The feature will come to the iOS app at some point in the future.

@GordonE can the favorites list still sort by number of listeners for the legacy feeds?
Thanks so much for this update!!! It's fantastic!
The option to sort your favorites list is in settings under directory settings, first option.

Yes.

Your favorites list can contain legacy feeds, public playlists, and private playlists. If you sort your favorites by number of listeners, the public playlists will be listed amongst the legacy feeds in their correct position listener-count wise. Your private playlists will be listed at the bottom since there's no listener counts associated with them.

Yay! I signed up for testing. As a calls provider it'll be nice to tell folks they don't have to use the website to listen to my playlist any more LOL

Scanner Radio Pro v7.2.7.3

What am I missing? I've uninstalled and reinstalled Pro twice, and it doesn't show any beta features. Android 15.

Also, I don't believe the Pro version is in the app store anymore, at least that I can see, which would explain it being outdated. The Pro features have been integrated into the regular app. I have the Pro version too and had to get the regular version for the updated functionality.

I've had the paid version of this app. for about 2 years, I guess I'll have to look closer at it. It was Crazy Active during the Palisades fires, and others.

I am a previous paid user of Scanner Radio Pro on Android. I decided to try this Beta version with Calls support but am receiving the message "This app is not available for your device" on the Play Store using the provided link. I have a Pixel 8a running Android 15 (using the latest version of GrapheneOS). Any ideas?

Based on some Google searching I did, it looks like the Play Store is reporting that the app isn't available due to the fact that you're using Graphene OS. The Play Store won't make my app available to devices that don't meet their "device integrity" check to due a setting I selected in my app's store listing. Some features of my app require the device to pass the integrity checks to work in order to secure API's the app uses between the app and Firebase and my own servers.

A new (Android) beta version is available. Some changes contained in it:
  • Added a setting which can be used to have [Calls] appended to titles in the directory for feeds that are really Calls playlists (to help distinguish feeds when a Calls feed and a non-Calls feed have the same title). To get to the setting, tap Settings, then select "Directory Settings", and scroll down.
  • The "Clips" button on the player screen is now available when the last 30 seconds of audio is composed of only mp3 files. The button isn't available if the last 30 seconds of audio contains m4a files. I'm working on handling them.

Gordon I tried to swipe down from the top multiple times after the name change and nothing happens (spinning circle). I deleted the list 3 times and reentered it but each time wont appear on the favorite list. All lists plus the 3 reentered work fine on my PC. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app was no help ether

I don't understand this ether Gordon... (After you do that the name change should be visible in the Favorites listing if you favorited any of your private playlists.)..... I didn't make my private playlists a favorite. They just appeared in my Favorites. Except the one I've been trying to edit. The new update took the {CALLS} off the private playlists. Thanks
