Hi all!!

Well, i've been out of amateur radio for a few years now. I got into it when i was very young, 10 years old or so....and since i've been in college i've been distracted with my coursework, but now i'm ready to get back into it!

I have an icom Q7A, and a radioshack race scanner that I got at a pawn shop years ago that works excellent. My dad's base-station scanner has gone to the big scan-shop in the sky, so i'm going to give him my rat-shack unit for fathers day.

I'm looking for something that i can program and or tweak using a computer, and i'd like it to follow digital trunked systems (I'm in Omaha, Nebraska right now).

I've done some reading but it's just so hard to sort through all the models, figured i'd throw this out and see what kind of replies i get.

I've read about the PRO-96 and the soon-to-be released uniden BCD396T.

I'm a graduate student in omaha nebraska, so the trunking capabilities are a for-sure plus.

Thanks for your time!!!

I use a Uniden BC796D and I have no problem hearing the Douglas county\Omaha system. I use it in my car and the only spot where I have problem hearing the system is in my driveway.
The only scanners that will track this system that are out now are the Uniden BC796 and BC296; rat-shack Pro 96 and Pro 2096.
