I used to have this set up on my old comp with Windows XP & I had it working fine.

The problem I am having now is:

On both Windows O/S XP & Vista

The recorder is working and I am recording the Tx's but I am not receiving the audio through the speakers on the PC. On the old PC I know I had to fiddle with the settings to get the audio through but I cannot for the life of me figure it out again.

Any help would be appreciated, I would probably use it more often on the comp with Windows Vista but would like input on XP as well.

Thanks

I agree, check the Line in settings... I haven't had to play with mine at all, as soon as I plugged it in I started hearing transmissions... Using Vista.

If your playback mic and line are not muted, and if you are now using a newer computer, especially a laptop, it is possible that your sound card does not dto duplex. IOW, it will not do both at the same time... pass the received sound for amplification to the speakers. I have had 6 Toshiba laptops, and this newest one doesn't do duplex... ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!

Dewey, my newest lap top is a Toshiba as well and that might be what it is.

On the XP I had the scanner plugged in and hit the test button, it went through the vocal range test, I then hit next and I actually heard the scanner being played back through the lap top. I then had to hit next again and it stopped playing through.

I cannot remember which computer I was initially using for the recorder, I know I had to change some settings but it worked fine.

I appreciate all the help guys.

For the record, the Scanner Recorder software itself has nothing to do with this issue. It simply records whatever it "hears" on whatever device and input is set for recording in Windows. That could be Line In, Mic In, Wave, Stereo Mix, etc.

I understand that, in the original post I stated
