Scanner recording problem

Hi everyone I just got a sheilded audio cable and I have it plugged into my scanner and into my computer. I cannot hear any audio coming out of my laptop speakers. When I check the recording with my recording software it recorded very clear and works well. How do i get the live scanner audio to come out of my speakers? Thanks -Louie-

Sound Playback device and Sound Recording device are two different selections. Click on your speaker icon and select Adjust Audio Properties. On the Audio tab, under Sound Playback, click Volume and make sure the input device (it'll be either microphone or line in, depending on your laptop) is both unmuted and has volume turned up.
