Scanner repair

Just moved to Lodi. Sent my GRE800 into Whistler for an upgrade and got it back saying unable to update due to a loose antenna .I am having a difficult time locating a radio repair shop in the area. Any suggestions in locating one would be appreciated.

Here is a place that you can send your radio off to, G & G Communications. http://www.gcomradio.com/. Not sure where in WI you are but you might try HRO in Milwaukee?

I wonder why Whistler did not offer to repair the problem for a fee? I remember reading that Uniden will repair a scanner (for a cost) no matter who made it. Since Whistler bought GRE it seems odd that they would not offer repair services for that scanner.

Just called HRO they do not have a service department. As a retired Volunteer firefighter,I just might swing by Lodi FD on drill night and see if the have any suggestions.Many travel or have portable scanner at home.

Whistler just announced that they will now repair the GRE PSR-800 scanners for a flat rate of $120. This price includes upgrading the firmware to make it a WS1080, assuming it is not "locked". They will also now upgrade locked scanners for an additional charge.
