I have had scanner now for a couple of years and it was great. Now though it no longer picks up any traffic. Scanner had been updated with latest frequencies from radio reference and fully updated. I had even flashed the card ans started over. any suggestions would be helpful Its kind of an expensive paper weight

More details needed. Does it pick up weather channels? Does it show scanning? Does zip code feature do anything?

Start with the most basic thing- what's your squelch set at? Also check your scan selection and make sure services are "on".

Check all those things basic as previously mentioned by StoliRaz. Add this to the list; Put the scanner on a weather frequency and wiggle the antenna input… see if it’s a bad connection. If the scanner is constantly being moved around, especially when connected to a stiff coax such as LMR400, the antenna connection can get stressed excessively and break the solder connection inside the chassis.

When all the possible “basic” problems have have been eliminated with no success you can try resetting the scanner to the factory settings and reload your programming.

As mentioned, start simple.

Monitor the WX frequency for your area.

Check to make sure you have audio by turning the squelch down to 0 (if you hear nothing)

See if you receive the WX channel.

Report back and we can help from there.

Are there any transmitters nearby?

What antenna(s) are you using?
