Does anyone know if an after market stand is made for the HP-1 / HP-2? I've been searching, but have come up empty so far. I'm looking for something that holds the scanner a little more upright than the stand that comes with the radio. I would just sit it on its base, but it has a tendency to fall over backwards whenever I have to tap the screen.

Thanks in advance for any help / comments / suggestions provided.

:)

I am not, but will be monitoring this thread to see if anyone else has. Sort of doubt it.

Are you sure it is sitting in the notches on your OEM stand? I'm not sure how it can "fall over backwards" if it is.

Use the mobile, snap in mount and attach it to a piece of wood - finish as needed. Or use a Ram mount and attach to a base off wood or whatever.

Bolt it to a table or desk and it will never fall over.

When it's sitting on its "base," the bottom of the scanner (no stand), it can, and will, fall over backwards very easily.

That would be a nice idea if I didn't have to move the radio from room to room on occasion.

This is what I use . It's a Nifty HT Desk Stand that is weighted and is much more secure than the base that comes with the HP-1. As you can see it does have more of a forward angle which makes the display easier to see .

Beautifully done. Which begs the question, "When do they go into production ???"

And here is was giving you credit for the design ! Did you have a hand in it ?

I only designed the antenna mount and added the BNC adapter. I got a sheet of Lexan from Lowe's and used a heat gun to form the BNC antenna mount . I'm thinking about redoing it and adding a coat of black paint.

The HPs were never designed to sit on their bases, they always require a stand. You could use the mobile bracket and attach it to your desk. I did this with a suction RAM mount temporarily until I started using it mobile. It was easily adjustable for angle. The stock stand works fine for me.

That's why it comes with the stand which has locking notches that hold the scanner in place. I can press on it as hard as I want, and all that happens is the whole thing (scanner and stand) slide backwards.

Granted, if you are not using the stand, it's not as stable, but that's why they provide the stand.

Under normal circumstances, the stock stand works for me as is. However, due to lingering health issues, I spend more time in bed than I'd like to, and when almost flat on my back, the angle that the stock stand provides isn't the best for viewing the display.

They make some longer RAM mounts which mount to the floorboard of a vehicle. Maybe something like that could be mounted to your bed's headboard or to an end table and you could swing it out of the way when not in use.

I'ts a little difficult to suggest something if you are not forthcoming about how it is to be used.

I'll be in bed, almost flat on my back, listening to my scanner. That's how it's to be used.
