Having a strange issue where my scanner will occasionally stop on a frequency that is just static. It’s not limited to just one frequency but they’re all in the military UHF band.
The only way to stop it is to turn the squelch up really high.
This doesn’t always seem to be an issue but it will randomly do it for a while before working ok again.
I read something about the sun and winter/sprintime at around 11am?? It’s currently 11am and I’m getting the issue right now. Coincidence or is this the same issue, whatever that actually is? Sunspot cycle??

Are you using an outdoor antenna?

There are thousands of sources of noise around the house that can show up in the UHF military frequencies. Anything from cell sites, your Internet router, printers, gas pumps, etc. It's a source of frustration, especially while mobile. Getting the antenna up and away from the local noise sources can help.

If it's the same frequencies all the time it could be just a birdie or repetitive interference. Lock it out or avoid it in order to scan smoothly without hiccups.
