Hi gentlemen -

I tried a search, but my terms are a bit to generic. I figured I'd come to the experts on this.

In the advent of cell phones, most members of my volunteer department do not carry their Motorola pager, but leave it in the charger all day and receive activations via text. At $500 a piece, this is a little silly. I'm looking for a low-tech, cheap as possible base station scanner that will silently scan for our plectron tones and activate. Our activations are on an analog channel, so digital scan or trunk is not needed. Brand name doesn't matter - if it's cheap enough, I'd love to know about the cheapest mobile that can be charged via 9v as well.

Sorry if I'm breaking any forum rules, I know you guys take this stuff seriously!

You can use a scanner connected to your computer and a two tone detect software set up that can be rigged to send out an email when a page is received. This inst my area of expertise so someone else will have to help you further. good luck
